Free Rita's & DQ!
😍😍 If a friend sent this to you, please give them a big hug or high-five from me. Oh, and you can sign up for your own free copy here!
Good morning!
It’s the first day of spring! (though my allergies told me it started about a week ago 🤣)
🍦 But this means you can get free Italian ice at Rita’s! (find the closest location with this store finder, but I suspect it’ll be in King’s Contrivance or Burtonsville)
(if you’re more a DQ fan, they give away a cone too!)
Also, did you know that Maryland Day, which celebrates the founding of the colony, is next Tuesday, March 25th? This weekend is when you’ll see most of the festivities kicking off across the state.
This website shares all of the Maryland Day events, with a heavy emphasis on Anne Arundel County and Annapolis events as they are big sponsors. If you’ve wanted to see the Pride of Baltimore II, it’ll be at the dock in Annapolis and deck tours will be free.

Want a Free Tree? 🌳🌳
If you’re interested in getting a free tree or shrub to plant on your property, you can get one from Howard County Bee City’s Trees for Bees giveaway. The tree and shrub species are all native to Maryland and you just need to reserve your tree starting March 24th at 8am. Act quickly though, they run out fast.
Then, you pick up on April 12th at GreenFest, which is HoCo’s largest celebration of Earth Day.

Board of Education FY2025 Budget Fully Funded 🏫

Forever 21 is forever shutting down 💤
Forever 21 is bankrupt again and plans on winding down the business unless it can find a buyer, which seems unlikely. I haven’t stopped by the location in the Columbia Mall but I’d expect them to have liquidation sales soon.

Ray Sharbaugh, Laurel Glass & Mirror
📷 courtesy of Joanna Anastasio | 🗺️ LGM Glass Designs
In 1983, Ray Sharbaugh opened Laurel Glass & Mirror on historic Main Street in the city of Laurel, MD. Sharbaugh’s wife, Joanne, worked side by side with her husband as a partner in the family business for over 50 years. In addition to Sharbaugh and his wife, all five of their children, their spouses, and seven of their grandchildren have worked for one of the 3 glass businesses owned by the family.
Growing up in and around the business, the founder’s grandson, Frank Anastasio, officially joined the company in May 2008 as an estimator. With great pride, Sharbaugh named Anastasio the company’s president in 2019, now rebranded as LGM Glass Designs. One year later and guided by plans for further growth and expansion, Anastasio opened a second facility in Jessup, MD, dedicated to commercial fabrication. This commercial division includes estimators and project managers and fabrication is also based out of the Jessup location.
