I love Bon Fresco. When it opened years ago, I remember going in and marveling at how delicious the bread was. Crunchy crust, soft interior, it was fantastic.

When they opened, they didn’t have my favorite, the London Broil sandwich, on the menu. I saw it one day as a “daily special” and got it. Back then, they used red onion, but I still get to this day. It’s still a daily special, many years later!

If you like sandwiches, give them a try. If you can, order it there and eat it there. Just putting the sandwich in a paper wrapper will soften the bread’s crust just enough that it changes a little. It’s still good to go though!

I moved here a little over 20 years ago and didn’t know how Jerry’s was a local institution. So when Jeffrey’s in Burtonsville closed recently, I didn’t know the whole backstory and how it used to be a Jerry’s and was no longer. A pow-wow is “an opportunity for the public to interact with American Indian dancers, singers, drummers, artists and crafts persons. Members of the Haliwa-Saponi, Piscataway, Rappahannock, Cherokee, Sioux, Iroquois, Lumbee, and Navajo are a few of the Tribes that will participate this year.”

• Summer Movie Night @ The Wine Bin - Bring a chair or blanket, some good friends, and enjoy Breakfast at Tiffany’s starting at 9pm.
