#23: Several festivals, shows & more this misty weekend

😍😍 If a friend sent this to you, please give them a big hug or high-five from me. Oh, and you can sign up for your own free copy here!

Good morning neighbor!

Did you know turtles get moody? You’re not the only one who gets cranky before your morning coffee. 😂🍵

And is summer already half over? Not quite but it’s pretty close. There are only 39 days until the start of the school year (August 24th) and it’s only been 29 days since the end of the year (June 18). But the clock is ticking… it’ll be half over the next time I send you an email. 🤣

Chick-fil-A is running their Code Moo promotion where you play a silly game in the app and can win free food each week (only one time each week). It started on Tuesday and goes until August 4th, I’ve already won a medium fry… which my teenage son will inhale in about two seconds.

In this week’s Fulton Flyer:

  • Fairy Festival @ Clark’s for the young ones

  • Long Reach H.S. shortstop drafted by the Dodgers

  • International food festival down in Silver Spring

Here we go!

Jim Wang

Costco is running a promotion through Groupon in which new members can get a $20 or $40 Digital Costco Shop Card when signing up. New Gold Star members get a $20 Costco Shop Card and Executive members get a $40 Shop Card.

Hawaiian Saimin (Ramen)

📷 by Jim Wang | 🗺️ Bon Fresco, Columbia

I love Bon Fresco. When it opened years ago, I remember going in and marveling at how delicious the bread was. Crunchy crust, soft interior, it was fantastic.

When they opened, they didn’t have my favorite, the London Broil sandwich, on the menu. I saw it one day as a “daily special” and got it. Back then, they used red onion, but I still get to this day. It’s still a daily special, many years later!

If you like sandwiches, give them a try. If you can, order it there and eat it there. Just putting the sandwich in a paper wrapper will soften the bread’s crust just enough that it changes a little. It’s still good to go though!

Local Business

Jerry’s Down to 3 Locations 🍕

I moved here a little over 20 years ago and didn’t know how Jerry’s was a local institution. So when Jeffrey’s in Burtonsville closed recently, I didn’t know the whole backstory and how it used to be a Jerry’s and was no longer. If you’re curious, Jerry’s is down to three - Dunkirk, Solomons Island, and the Maryland House travel plaza. Some fun anecdotes from Reddit.
