HCPSS Summer Meal Program 🥪

All HCPSS students and any children ages 18 and younger can get free meals this summer through August 1 if you visit distribution locations around the county. It’s free - no application, enrollment, or fees - the children just have to be there to get the lunch.

Six Flags America’s last day will be November 2nd and P.G. County is looking to replace it with another amusement park. There’s an unofficial “Farewell Reunion Weekend” set for August 15-17.

• Margarita Sampling Event @ UNO Pizzeria - Of course today is National Tequila Day and you can head to UNO Pizzeria in Ellicott City for a sampling event from 6pm to 8pm. Tickets are $25+fees.

• Shakespeare Beyond - Chesapeake Shakespeare Company puts on a free performance and this one will be at Rockburn Park in Elkridge. It’s free, outdoors (so bring a chair!) and looks fun!

• Belmont Blockbuster Series - The second of five movie nights 7/17 at Belmont Manor & Historic Park will be a showing of TBD starting at 8pm. Advanced registration is encouraged because there’s limited parking but the event is free.

• Merriweather District Farmers Market - 3pm to 7pm at Merriweather Row Plaza. They’ll have all kinds of produce and stuff like that. Probably some cookies. If you read this part, just reply “lol you’re so funny and handsome.”

• Amped in the Park @ Color Burst Park - The latest performance of the Color Burst Park Summer Series is tonight starting at 8:30pm with Las Karamba.

• Pride in July @ Lakefront Live - First ever Pride in July at the Lakefront from 6pm to 9pm. High energy dance, drag performances, and more but registration is required.

• Olney Theatre Summerfest 2025 - An annual open house celebration of outdoor performances, food, live music, and family friendly activities. Open house is 1pm to 6pm and a free performance of ExDragvaganza at 8pm.

• Play for All Fest @ Blandair - 10am to 2pm - “Celebrate equity and inclusion of all individuals. Local Theatres and Shows

We saw Kim’s Convenience last weekend and it was so much fun. We were fans of the TV show and it was a pleasure to see the “origin story,” as it were. It’s listed as sold out but they release a few tickets at 10am on the day of each performance. Our show was “sold out” but there were a couple of empty seats, so if you’re interested, check after 10am each day. There aren’t any bad seats in that cozy theatre(lab).
