#20: What's Fun This Weekend?

Good morning neighbor!
Congratulations - you survived your first heat dome.
I love how the weather is now so INSANE theyāre making up new names for it. The first time they said El NiƱo, I thought someone was just messing with me. Turns out itās a pattern theyāve seen since the 1600s. Jokes on me, the little boy isnāt that little.
And it turns out heat domes happen a lot too⦠just not here and not that often. I have a friend who lives in Arizona and they had 113 consecutive days over 100 degrees last year. Thatās shoes melted on sidewalk level heat!
If we had that many days over 100 degrees, I could stop sending this newsletter because no one would leave their house. š
Anyway, hereās whatās in this weekās Fulton Flyer:
Best of Howard award voting ends soon
Merriweather Districtās farmers market opens
The 147th Annual Clarksville Picnic is this weekend! 147th! Wow!

Deer Positive for Chronic Wasting Disease
The MD Department of Natural Resources have found deer that have tested positive for chronic wasting disease, which is a neurological disease found in deer, elk, and moose. Itās not naturally transmittable to humans. If you see any deer that appear āemaciated, unhealthy, or acting abnormally,ā report to the DNR at 410-260-8540. The ones defiantly looking you in the eye while eating your flowers and hedges are acting normally though.

Bertucciās Columbia Closed š
After a 30 year run, Bertucciās in Columbia is no more. It appears that the Chick-Fil-A plans that were published back in April were accurate.
By rumors I mean a very very thin Reddit thread about how thereās a new owner and targeting an August open date. There isnāt any news regarding the bankruptcy proceedings (other than a judge denying a motion for a landlord to reclaim a leased location in Bethesda).
