Highland Go-Kart Track News 🏎️

If you were following the Highland Go-Kart story, the HoCo Department of Planning and Zoning dismissed the case, which means the go-kart is not allowed for now. Go-kart racing isn’t listed as a permitted activity in Howard County so the examiner dismissed the conditional-use petition on the grounds she lacked jurisdiction.

HoCo Seeks Applicants for Police Accountability Board 👮

Howard County’s Police Accountability Board has vacancies in District 1 (includes Ellicott City, Elkridge) and District 2, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking applicants to serve three year terms. Deadline to apply is 3/14. Learn more here.

Apply to be a Camden Frank! 🌭

You may not know this but you can apply to be one of the costumed hot dogs (the Camden Franks) during the 4th inning races during Orioles games. You will need to be at least 5’ 5” and under 6’ 2” to fit the costume but if you are energetic, can run about 150 yards, you could become a hot dog!

I discovered the Brighton Dam Azalea Garden a few years ago and was blown away with how beautiful it was when in bloom. If you haven’t been, go. It’s thousands of azalea bushes and they bloom around the end of April (I’ll add a note in a future email whenever I know for sure they’re blooming). Definitely go.

Boyd Cru Wines, founded by Matthew and Jon’ll Boyd, is a Maryland winery with a production facility in Poolesville, MD. They’re planning on opening a tasting room at Savage Mill in April.

Same owners, same staff, just a new name - 22 Yards. It’ll be a sports bar but will keep its axe throwing. They also promise live music so you’ll probably see them listed below whenever they open up - grand opening is still TBD.

Lamb cuddling returns to Mary’s Land Farm 🐏🤗🐏

Want to cuddle a lamb or two? It’s back at Mary’s Land Farm in Ellicott City. For $100, you and three friends can cuddle their lambs for thirty minutes.

You must book ahead online and it’s available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They have young calves, bunnies, and even unicorns too!

Raider Roast 3/8 🏴‍☠️

The Raider Roast is an annual event put on by the Atholton High School Boosters and takes place at the Great Room at Savage Mill this Saturday from 7-11pm.
